About TaxBasis AI
TaxBasis AI is a premium research, analysis, and automation assistant designed for everyone. It helps everyday people and business owners understand complex tax concepts in plain language, while enabling tax advisors, corporate tax teams, and heads of tax to conduct deep research and automate complex compliance and structuring workflows.
Our Vision
Tax is intricate and honestly not everyone's favorite subject but you can't avoid it. As my prof said in our tax policy class, nothing is certain except death and taxes. TaxBasis AI was built to mitigate the brain damage tax has on us, by leveraging advanced large language models to do the heavy lifting.
Our broad vision is to build an artificial intelligence platform capable of addressing everything about tax: from resolving simple queries to automating tax compliance and to analyzing complex multi-jurisdictional tax advisory issues across all disciplines of tax.
Currently, we are piloting with Canadian and US federal income tax laws, treaties, and tax authority publications. Moving forward, we are expanding our databases globally, building out intelligent compliance workflows to streamline tax reporting and brain-damaging tax calculations.
Behind TaxBasis AI
Hi, I am Karry! I am the solo-founder of TaxBasis AI.
I am a seasoned tax professional with 15 years of experience in corporate tax, personal tax, M&A, international tax and institutional investment tax. After graduating with my Master of Tax, I spent 12 years in Big 4 accounting firms managing transactions ranging from $5M to $10B. During my last 2 years at the firm, I was the national lead of digital transformation for tax. That was my first hands on experience in data analytics, data science, coding, training models, and automating complex tax calculations and compliance.
I built TaxBasis AI because I wanted to combine my coding experience with my domain knowledge in tax to create a tool that actually works. General purpose AI models often make up rules or mix up jurisdictions. TaxBasis AI is different because it is designed to reference actual tax laws, provide clear explanations in your preferred language, and provide deliverables that you can get a firm at the tip of your fingers.
The underlying reasoning of our LLMs is built around the thought process of a seasoned tax practitioner, the output mirrors a professional's logic to ensure quality and prevent the hallucinations common in generic AI models that pull from unverified sources.
My goal is to make tax concepts accessible and clear for everyday people, while transforming the way tax professionals work. Let me know your thoughts, feedback, or if you want to get involved in building the future of tax research and automation!
